Abstract
In this study, Acidified graphene with fluorescent properties was prepared from 1,10-phen, Tb(NO3)·6H2O, acidified graphene. Tb(phen)2(NO3)3 complex particles can be loaded onto the surfaces and interlayers of graphene. Rare earth composite particles are influenced by steric hindrance and develop into small-scale, low-dimensional structures. The Tb3+ ion is stimulated to display 5D47F6 and 5D47F5 transition emission on the fluorescence spectra due to energy transfer
between the 1,10-phen triplet state energy level and the 4f excited state, endowing graphene with optical characteristics. Electrospun fluorescent graphene/polyacrylonitrile and fluorescent graphite/chitosan/polyacrylonitrile membranes were successfully incorporated into epoxy resin to develop a smart coating with fluorescence responsiveness to chloride ions (Cl⁻), and a comprehensive comparison of both coatings was conducted to assess their ability for early corrosion monitoring during salt spray testing. Electrostatic spinning technology enhances the fluorescent properties of graphene while minimizing performance degradation caused by agglomeration. Fibrous membranes with a high specific surface area and porous structure improve compatibility with resins and effectively enhance the barrier properties of fluorescent graphene in coatings. Additionally, fluorescent graphene is a source for detecting the corrosion behavior of coatings. This work provides a meaningful strategy for the design of intelligent protective materials.
