Abstract
Liquid manipulation is a critical approach for the dynamic transfer and exchange of mass, momentum, and energy between equipment and external environments, which has practical applications in microfluidics, chemical reactions, water harvesting, and enhanced heat transfer. Many biological surfaces manifest unique liquid manipulation performances based on their special structures and wettability, which inspired many strategies for bionic designs. By mimicking unique structures on natural surfaces, we have achieved controlled liquid transport in the desired direction, velocity, shape, and additional functions. We envision that these liquid manipulation strategies could access emerging territories in fluid control for exciting applications.
